Chang'e-4's impact may extend beyond in situ characterization of the South Polar Atkins basin to insight on regional weathering rates. Drs Long Xiao and Jun Huang at the China University of Geosciences may achieve that with morphometric analyses using regolith image segmentation.
Look familiar? This reminded us of the boreholes drilled by curiosity. Even better, the Iron-rich soils here may teach us something about mars!
