In the 80’s and 90’s Butterworth was a designated industrial development zone . Pep stores had a manufacturing plant employing hundreds of workers ( other companies also manufactured there) before the 94 elections this designation was withdrawn leaving 1000s unemployed.

Pros and cons.......Car broke down on Friday, 16th Feb on my way from work.... Flatbed came 3 hours later. Needle bearings on the propshaft failed. Spent Saturday, and Sunday trying to get it sorted. Took 2 days off from work while new universal joint was being fitted....

Took my kids to school in the morning and fetched them in the afternoon. Wife very happy. Managed to go for long walks/jogs, and see everyone else stuck on the morning traffic, frustrated, trying to get to work, as I would have done......
