Did you know that Science North and Laurentian University created Canada’s only Master’s program in Science Communication? 🎓✨ This year, we’re proud to celebrate its 20th anniversary! Over the past two decades, this program has shaped a generation of science communicators who make science accessible, trusted, and inspiring. Alumni are now leading conversations on climate change, public health, technology, and many other topics. It's proof of the bold vision that started it all. At Science North, we believe science is for everyone. That belief is at the heart of this program and why it remains unique in North America, even 20 years later. To every student, alum, faculty member, and partner who has shaped this journey, thank you. Your work matters, and your impact endures. Our students select a winter elective to get hands-on experience developing #SciComm products. The Communicating Science Through Exhibits course taught at @ScienceNorth enables students to propose, prototype, and build an exhibit that they evaluate with real visitor feedback.

❄️ Happy 40th anniversary, Science North! ❄️ We're turning 40, and it's time to celebrate four decades of sparking curiosity, nurturing education, and pushing the boundaries of innovation! From a dream in the 1950s to opening our doors in 1984, Science North has become a beloved community cornerstone. This anniversary isn't just about looking back; it's about celebrating our lasting impact on science education in Sudbury and across Northern Ontario. Our journey began with a vision in the mid-1950s, evolving into the idea of a centre for science by the late 1970s. The first rock blast on June 29, 1981, kickstarted our development. Science North officially opened on June 19, 1984, inaugurated by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. Since then, we've been a beacon of science education and cultural enrichment for Northern Ontario and beyond. Over the past 40 years, we've achieved remarkable milestones: 🎥 Opened Northern Ontario's first and only IMAX theatre in 1994 🌎 Established award-winning exhibitions and multimedia experiences ⛏️ Unveiled Dynamic Earth in 2003 to showcase our region's rich mining legacy 🌌 Launched Northern Ontario's first Planetarium in 2009 🚀 Upgraded our Space Place in 2024 to celebrate Canada's role in the Artemis Project Our collaborations with influential figures like Rick Mercer and Dr. Jane Goodall have helped us create impactful multimedia experiences, large-format screen films, and exhibitions addressing urgent global issues such as climate change. Looking forward, our commitment to inspiring curiosity and fostering a love for science remains unwavering. We are excited about the future of Science North, a future that promises continued growth, discovery, and innovation, and we invite you to be part of this journey. Thank you all for your unwavering support over these 40 years. Your engagement and enthusiasm are a testament to Science North's enduring impact on our community and beyond. During Northern MedTalks, the Science Communication students took roles on the floor to keep the show on track - directing attendees, escorting speakers before they presented, ensuring their microphones were properly set up, and serving as our event's off-screen narrator. (5/6)

Northern MedTalks is a culminating opportunity for our students on both the Logistics Team and Presentation Team to test the skills they learned throughout the program and directly apply them before beginning their internships. (6/6)
