In spite of the global crisis of #AMR, another pharmaceutical company abandons antibacterial drug development. We need alternative models to fund such programs and support for researchers at academic institutions working on anti-bacterials.
Johnson & Johnson stops development of all antibacterial programs. Sigh! J&J developed Levaquin, bedaquiline, and several other life-saving antibiotics. Obviously this happens because they can't make money on antibiotics. Thi…lnkd.in/eSQgfX-t lnkd.in/eK-3RuP4

Antibiotic-resistant infections caused 5 million deaths in 2019. In 2020, hospital-onset #AMR infections and deaths jumped 15%. In 2023, superbug outbreaks have gripped our attention. The time to act is now ⁦@CentreImpactAMR⁩ ⁦⁦@WHOworkingtofightamr.org/2023/0…

#MicrobeoftheMonth! Can you guess who I am? 1) I have a sweet, grape-like aroma. 2) Most of the time, I don't cause problems—but I can infect everything from the blood to the lungs. 3) I'm known for my sticky biofilms. Leave a guess below & stay tuned for the big reveal!
