Honestly, I wish I could just ask them directly what they'd like me to draw.
But if I do that, it starts feeling more like a commission, and depending on the situation, it could potentially lead to misunderstandings or other complications.
So it's a bit tricky😧

I feel like this is becoming more common in every community. The most troublesome are illustrations traced from generative AI.

Lately, I feel like I’ve been seeing a lot more fanart that looks heavily traced from existing illustrations or photos, or people directly reusing compositions without crediting the original source, and honestly… it’s been leaving me feeling kind of uncomfortable…

Whenever I drew Vain, I often felt frustrated because I couldn't quite capture him the way I wanted. (Because of that, there are actually quite a few pieces that never made it past the sketch stage.)

The idea that “you don’t have to say it because it should already be understood” only really works when there’s an exceptionally deep level of trust and connection between people, like with a long-term partner or someone you know incredibly well.
