The most famous anti-Stalinist party was Catalan. The guy who killed Trotsky was Catalan. Frantz Fanon's mentor? Catalan. The only foreign official in North Korea? Catalan. Some claim that Engels knew a bit of Catalan. We are behind every leftist tendency.

Do I believe in degrowth? Of course, I believe in the tendency of the rate of profit to fall.

Today my grandma would have turned 102. She was born very close to where Fidel was from. She was older than him and even outlived him. I choose to have this pic my sister took as my mental image of her.

Not gonna quote RT anyone because there are too many tweets that have prompted this thought, but English people need to learn how to be normal about the Scots.

Applebaum’s “liberal language:”
Applebaum: What binds Russia, China, Iran and North Korea is not religion or ideology. China is communist, Russia nationalist, Iran theocratic. What binds them is fear of liberal language: rights, rule of law, separation of powers and independent courts. 1/

Today I submitted my PhD! It draws on new archival evidence to examine Che Guevara’s trade and diplomatic missions to Afro-Asia and the socialist bloc. Just in time for the World Cup too ⚽️

I’m still convinced that a bearded Biden would have a 60% approval rating.

Make sure to read the latest from @LarryAlbertGil on the continuing relevance of the Cuban revolution today. “Thanks to the October Revolution, the wretched of the earth could stop philosophizing with a hammer and a sickle and start doing so with AK-47s and long-range missiles. Traditionally, Soviet-Cuban friendship has been seen as Latin America’s entry into a binary Cold War — the Cold War understood as a battle between two hegemons. This view has been complicated by scholars associated with the ‘new Cold War history’, who have stressed that the Cold War was rather a polycentric conflict between two visions of modernity, also rooted in regional tensions. The Cuban Revolution is not any different from other struggles for national and social liberation in Latin America and around the world, such as the Haitian Revolution, the Palestinian liberation movement, or the Vietnam War. As we have seen, these two stories intersected in Cuba: the binary Cold War complicated and gave another twist to a conflict that is deeply hemispherical — that of US imperialism in the Americas.”
Against the grain of various sectarian narratives, Albert Gil (@LarryAlbertGil) argues that the Cuban Revolution stands as a bold experiment in socialism with contributions worthy of appreciation for all socialists today. cosmonautmag.com/2026/06/cub…
