Keeping in the 1911 spirit of my last post this is the Colt 1911SE-A1 in 45 ACP. Of Colts current non custom shop offerings this is probably the coolest of them all. I think overall the pistol is very well done except I think Colt needs to step up their game on the beavertail and beavertail fit. In my opinion it detracts from the overall quality of the gun. This is a limited edition so if you want one get on it. What I would really like Colt to do is use this pistol as a base gun to do a quality reproduction of a 1941 era M1911A1 which was a blued pistol. That would be a slick handgun and a great base gun for a custom build. What do you guys think?

Have you all heard of the early-mid 2000's @WilsonCombat "Cave Guns"? Pretty cool gun. SF had requested a railed 1911 for use in the dark caves in the Middle East to hunt down bad guys. These are made up of Wilson Combat slides and Caspian Arms Ltd. frames (Wilson didn't make a railed frame at that time). They were spec'd for a SF unit and a few were tested, but not officially adopted. These were leftover Caspian frames with the unique 'WCSF' serial prefix they used for those test guns. Technically an overrun of sorts. Not too many made and the ones they did make were offered in a green, grey or black frame. @Caspian14838

As many of you know Operation Acid Gambit was a big event during my military career and it’s great to see that my friend Kurt Muse, who we rescued that day, is one step closer to having his story on the big screen. You can learn more here: deadline.com/2026/05/six-min…

An Instagram friend who researches surplus US military M1911A1 pistols sent me this yesterday - it’s one of many drawings that @PatMcNamara65 did back in the day while he was Delta. I vaguely remember this one but it’s got to be one of my favorites of all the ones he did. Notice the compensated M1911A1. For a period of time some members of the Unit used these as their primary duty pistol. I never did as was not a fan of these guns for life and death tools as I had seen far too many problems with them in my days of shooting USPSA. I would advise anyone using one now for duty use to make sure you have tested it with a variety of ammunition and have a good grasp of muzzle blast and muzzle flash in using your pistol. Also keep them well lubed and change recoil springs more often than non compensated pistols. In short treat them more like a race car than a workhorse. If your not willing to sign up for that then leave them as range toys only. I hope you guys like the pic - look up Mac on instagram too and definitely give him a follow! He’s a solid dude !

On May 9 my good friend Joe Riedy and his wife, Julianne, experienced a devastating tragedy when a fire tore through their home. More than a dozen fire departments responded to battle the blaze, the fire ultimately decimated the home, leaving Joe and Julianne with an unimaginable loss. Thankfully, Joe, Julianne, and their beloved dog were able to escape safely In a matter of moments, they lost not only their home, but also many of the everyday necessities and other essential belongings. Please consider supporting the Riedy family as they deal with this loss. fundthefirst.com/campaign/su…

Here’s some pics of a custom Springfield 1911-A1 I built many years ago. If I remember correctly it was one of my personal handguns once it was completed. It has a squared trigger guard which I’ve always liked and Heinie sights as well as a Kings #206 grip safety - both of which have been personal favorites on my 1911’s. A good friend owns it now so I know it’s in good hands. Enjoy the pics and share your thoughts and pics of any personal builds you’re proud of.

Hey gang a buddy of mine just sent me this asking if I could help identify what this is. I can’t recall ever seeing it before - it fits on an AR style weapon- can anyone help out ? I appreciate any input as always.

Great comments and ideas on identifying this but here’s a comment from my buddy Ken Hackathorn so I’m going with this 👍🏼 “Yea, I remember them from the distant past. Was supposed to allow the user to dial in the vectored recoil impulse to control muzzle rise for either right or left hand users. Pretty much a joke, like so much of the gun world gadgets…it faded pretty fast.”

Ok so here’s a gun trivia question for you on throwback Thursday; who can tell me what this is, what weapon it is from and what the R marking means ? Let’s hear it guys!!

Answer: It’s a FN FAL safety selector and the R stands for repetition. A cool sought after safety for FAL builds and although it’s not super common they’re not really rare either.

Big news! @WilsonCombat has acquired @Guncrafter1911. Two highly respected names in American 1911 craftsmanship, now under one roof. I'm looking forward to seeing what this acquisition produces. More details to follow over the coming weeks.

Checkout my most recent article on @firearmsfriday over the @thecoltfirearms Python. I’ve never been much of a revolver guy. That’s no secret. My wheelgun education came almost entirely from one man: Ken Hackathorn. Ken is a world-famous 1911 guru, but he’s also a serious revolver enthusiast who forgot more about sixguns than most people will ever know. When Ken talked revolvers, I listened. Read the article as I attempt to convey to you what I learned. Are you a fan of revolvers? Post a pic of your favorite wheelgun! firearmsfriday.com/firearm-n…
