It was '73, (I could be off a skosh); living in New Orleans' French Quarter on Burgundy St. & every night after work at 2:00AM, I'd go to #SevenSeas bar to do boilermakers & listen to #Stairway...over & over on their über-loud jukebox. It was our anthem. imdb.com/title/tt12150832/?r…

"Questioning Darwin" (2014) Horrible. This documentary actually normalizes the fundamentalist Christian denial of "evolutionary biology", rendering it sympathetic & quite reasonable. These troglodytes are religious fanatics, not skeptical people of faith. imdb.com/title/tt3528874/?re…

"From this day to the ending of the world...we in it shall be remembered. We few, we happy few, we band of brothers..." --Shakespeare’s "Henry V" Henry's St. Crispin’s Day speech on the evening before Battle of Agincourt. It's also my credal pledge to fellowship with all mankind.

"Disclosure Day" (2026) #Spielberg says he's more inclined to believe extraterrestrial life exists now than before, when he made "Close Encounters", et al. Well, if you'd taken more math & science, you would've known probability assures its likelihood! imdb.com/title/tt15047880/?r…

#Regarding_AI My life is an imperfect thing. Imperfection is actually a cherished human attribute. It adds value & individuality. It secures me warmly in the web of life. "Give me spots on my apples but leave me the birds & the bees---plee-ase!" ---Joni Mitchell

America's invitation to self-identify is something greater than just ethnicity. Americans have always been called upon to amplify themselves beyond such limits. Whether we are Irish, Italian, Spanish, French, German or Greek, we have a higher mandate. #WeAreMagnificentMongrels

Looks like I got out the Ecclesia Romana in the nick of time... Washington archdiocese removes Monsignor Stephen Rossetti over UFO comments. Me? I remain a sidelines observer of the Church's 21st century theological wiggling. Uhoh. washingtonpost.com/nation/20…

In the mystic pre-mornings of our Nature lies a snapshot of Being in a small New Hampshire town so much like our own as to be indistinguishable from it. What wonders abound to indemnify the past against ordinariness. #OurTown! Can you see it...over there? imdb.com/title/tt0032881/?re…

If you would know the soul of America then understand three things: 1) Democracy's messiness 2) Jazz music 3)Baseball And, the play & movie #OurTown punctuates it all. #GrokkingAmerica

Just for the record--- I've always found the titillating erotic obsession with the sexual confessional booth of political candidates quite tedious. Probably because I'm not religious, the varieties of sexual histories a candidate may carry in his/her memoirs bore me silly.

America ideally, is an invitation to self-identify as something greater than an ethnicity or gender. Americans have always been called upon to amplify themselves beyond such limits. Whether we are Irish, Italian, Spanish, Germans or Greek, we have a higher mandate. #WeAreMongrels

The solitary #Desdemona was a remarkably philosophical & worthy wench of note. She outlived her lover, Don Quixote of La Mancha---who in turn, tilted windmills and other lost causes.

I agree with #GeraldEarly, baseball historian & pundit: In a thousand years, America will be remembered & celebrated for three great things that it gave the world: Messy #Democracy, #Jazz music and #Baseball. I celebrate all three!

I'm a dying breed---a messy hybrid of both #Rooseveltian sensibilities. I'm a stubborn #TR progressive conservative---a conservationist of all things marrow-boned & essential. And a progressive of #FDR's #NewDeal largesse. God help us if we forget these origins and our history.

Re @IndianaFever basketball subscriptions through @Amazon @PrimeVideo, et alia: I've never seen a more revealing oink-filled piggie rush to sell @WNBA viewing rights to watch a basketball game. There are so many drooling bookies snorting for a share of the teats, it's mayhem.

@NCAASoftball @WCWSsoftball Re: @TexasSoftball vs @mstate_softball. Another missed strike call by plate ump. I ask myself how did that bright yellow #ChuckFinley ball travel from the pitcher's hand to the catcher's mitt without traveling thru the strike zone? It couldn't have.

#IWasThinking #OurGame is unique among sports. It has no time clock. The game can go on theoretically for years. On offense, we don't score in possession of the ball but the farther away from it the better. We score by reaching #Home safely. Everything is in multiples of 3s.

@NCAASoftball @WCWSsoftball @TideSoftball vs @HuskerSoftball An ex-#ASA/#NJSBUA umpire, for 20 yrs, I taught new umps. Behind the plate, my style wasn't deliberative! No 3 sec strike call delays! I called strikes loud, quick & demonstrably! Balls? I was silent. Hitters liked it.

My strike zone was tight but very consistent & accurate. Reliable...for both battery & batters. As a hitter, you knew immediately with me if it was a strike. I called them before they even hit the catcher's mitt. Players respected that style. Much has changed for the #CrewsInBlue

And I never gave commentary nor explanations for any calls...especially #Balls. It was a favor to them. A hitter must contemplate one's personal strike zone in Zen-like solitude to grow Samurai bat skills! (Or something like that...)
