I am running for the upcoming parliamentary election. Whether you agree with my political beliefs or not, I invite you to read why I am asking for your support.
I first contested in a election, during 2018 local council election representing Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna for Colombo. I launched a policy platform called *Your Winning Journey in Colombo*, a high-standard initiative rarely seen in local elections, which brought a fresh perspective to our campaign. After serving for three years in the city council, I voluntarily stepped down, handing over the role to another young leader, and shifted my focus to national politics.
In 2019, I was appointed as the media spokesperson for presidential candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa. Together, we led one of the most vibrant and strategic campaigns in Sri Lankan history, securing his victory with a mandate of 6.9 million votes. The very next day, I resigned from that role to take up a position at the Ministry of Mass Media, where I worked tirelessly. When the 2024 elections were announced, I resigned again to take on the campaign work for Namal Rajapaksa.
My roots are in a village called *Werella*, located along the Colombo-Anuradhapura road. Our home sits beside vast paddy fields. My father was a farmer, and my mother, before we were born, was a mathematics teacher. After my father passed away when I was young, she returned to work at the village bank. I passed the Grade 5 scholarship exam while attending Padenia School, and on the day the results came out, we were out in the fields, harvesting paddy.
I’ve had the privilege of traveling to over 52 countries across every continent, organizing conferences, training programs, workshops, and events with thousands of young people. My work with the United Nations and IPPF took me to countries like Afghanistan, Iran, and Bhutan, and to major nations such as China, Russia, and the United States.
My entire education has been a gift from Sri Lanka’s free education system. I received scholarships at Maliyadeva College, again when I entered Wayamba Campus, and even when I pursued my studies overseas. I have also authored three books: *Hundred Letters Not Claimed by the Owners*, *Corona Diary*, and *From Poverty to Samsung: The Korean Development Model*.
To elevate Sri Lanka's political culture, in 2017 we brought together young leaders from across the political spectrum and formed NextGenSL. Through this platform, many of Sri Lanka’s young political leaders engage with prominent diplomats, top business leaders, party officials, and visiting foreign dignitaries. We have worked tirelessly to foster the positive political discourse that is gradually taking shape in Sri Lanka today.
Some might say I am seeking votes at a time when the party is well-positioned for success. But my parents worked for the Sri Lanka Freedom Party in our village, I was active in student politics, and I played a role in founding the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna in 2017—not out of a hunger for power, but because we firmly believe in advancing our democratic and social values. I’ve appeared in countless TV debates, spoken at numerous meetings, and written hundreds of articles—not for personal gain, but as part of a genuine ideological battle.
As always, I seek your good wishes for a campaign conducted with dignity. I also humbly ask for your financial support, as I plan to run a campaign that is mindful of our economic situation. Above all, because I believe in humanity, I invite you to contribute an hour or two of your time to help my campaign, whenever you can spare it.
