Thrilled to see this paper coming out in Econometrica! I'm grateful to the editor and the referees and to my mentors for helping me to realize its full potential.
I run an RCT on occupational safety & health (OSH) committees, the key worker voice institution for workplace health & safety. They have small, positive effects on OSH, with no evidence they are costly in terms of wages, employment, or labor productivity econometricsociety.org/publi…

It's a hopeful, critical juncture in 🇧🇩 now that Sheikh Hasina’s govt stepped down. Show solidarity with Bangladeshis: demand the US govt & int'l community support peaceful caretaker rule, the emergence of new political parties, & democratic elections.

Bangladesh has made it!!! It has toppled a tyrant. এই বিজয় ছাত্রদের! এই বিজয় সাধারণ জনগণের!! I am also sick and tired of seeing some Indian so-called intellectuals portraying this mass revolution as a right-wing political move. Please stop that nonsense.
Bangladesh's PM Sheikh Hasina has resigned and fled the country after weeks of deadly protests, ending her 15-year reign. Here’s a look at her time in office: aje.io/h72qh2

The past 2 weeks in Bangladesh have been horrifying: a brutal crackdown on protesters seeking govt reform w/ hundreds killed, deployment of the army & shoot-on-sight orders, near complete communication shut down, and nationwide curfew. Bangladeshis deserve so much better.

Some multinationals privately enforce labour standards among their suppliers in developing countries. But is this effective, and does it complement or replace other ways to improve working conditions? Listen to @LauraBoudreau discuss this research here: voxdev.org/topic/firms-trade…
