New player ratings are out, and Syracuse's Joey Spallina jumped from #7 to #4 after his 8 point outburst against Princeton. Hiltz & Spallina are now #3 & #4 respectively. Dude can't beat anybody haha...

Biggest surprise when I put this together was Owen Hiltz hitting #3. Because he wasn't a points leader I hadn't layered him in until Monday and I was pleasantly surprised to see him float right to the top thanks to timely goals and being a big man up threat.

Joey Spallina sitting at 7 mainly because of a lower shooting percentage and a big gap between said shooting % and his shots on goal % which drags his shooting efficiency score quite a bit. Had just a few more shots gone in for him, that would have bumped him 3 or 4 spots.

Another surprise was Speidell coming in at #4, giving Harvard 2 of the top 4 spots. Speidell is breaking my algo because of his high shooting percentage (mixed with a tight spread when factoring on goal percentage) as well as 7 man up goals and a game winner.

*Also note, in my 3 years of doing this, CJ Kirst is the first player to ping 100. There are a couple of protections built in that prevent a player from hitting 100. He blew through them all.

My take on the bracket...
(1) Harvard deserved the bid "based on the criteria they used". Harvard checked more boxes. It's simple.
(2) Ohio State drawing Notre Dame is brutal, but it happens every year
(3) 6 of the 8 first round games are ripe for an "upset".

The @CuseMLAX comeback bid against @UNCMensLacrosse fell short, but it was an interesting watch and is an example of why you have to continue to play disciplined lacrosse through the last whistle. Cuse didn't do that on Saturday. If they had, things could have been different.
