He wrestled at Unforgiven five months later.
Unless you were reading the Observer or local newspapers in Lancashire, I don’t think people fully comprehend the physical problems Davey had before this run. This was a matter of months after he’d been told he wouldn’t walk again. It’s almost unfathomable that he made it back.

If it’s behind the times you want, at Capital Carnage, Vince McMahon was talking about the Falklands War, which had taken place 16 years earlier. Baffled kids everywhere.
Kurt Cobain had been dead for months when this music video debuted on WCW television. Wrestling is so with the times.

“What are you reading there? Why does it ‘may not be suitable for anyone under 16?’” “It’s just a wrestling magazine, mum. Nothing to worry about.”

I've just finished your book. What a fantastic read. I like to think I'm quite well read on the boom period of wrestling in the UK, but your book still taught me new things. Bravo.

It’s awesome that I get to take my daughter to her first wrestling show and it’s cost me £15 for the whole family. My first show was Big Daddy in a marquee in ’92, and I hope she’ll remember this just as fondly. Come and say hi so I can trick her into thinking I’m cool!

Great news! Thank you, Ben. I’m so glad to hear you’re enjoying it, and I’m pleased that you didn’t need that can of Monster to stop you dozing off mid-chapter.
Finally had chance to make a start on Lee Herbert's 'Rampage'. Really enjoying it so far. A relatable and nostalgic look at what it meant to be a WWF fan in this country in the early 90s, together with great insight and more than a sprinkling of UK cultural references.

When Vince McMahon spoke at Oxford University in December 98 he told the audience that Hulk Hogan’s career was over. He also said that Hall and Nash would now be “unable to compete to the standards that the WWF requires”. Signed them all a few years later!
From October 1998 issue of Power Slam. It was so weird hearing so many people marking out for Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan in the WWF in 2002, since the company line was how much they sucked.

Power Slam wouldn’t have survived the mid-90s without people like this. Thank you for your service 🫡
Ran up a €40 (€68) phone bill on my father's business number on the PowerSlam Magazine hotline. a) explaining it wasn't a sex hotline to disappointment b) my father having to explain it away to his VERY nice but extremely serious business partner. @BensonRichardE

I’ve seen the complaints about the cost to complete and I get it. It’s unnecessary, it’s hard, you have to find other collectors to swap with and actually talk to them. But we all need a bit more of this sort of thing in our lives. I’m convinced of it. Anyway, who’s got swaps?

Is the Raw after WrestleMania XIV the best ever? It didn’t have the best matches or promos, but has there ever been an episode where so many balls started rolling? It’s up there for me.

Bruce Prichard has called the Brawl for All “the absolute worst idea in the history of the business”. Harsh or fair?
