A special committee of MPs and Senators has been hearing testimony since March on whether to widen Canada’s assisted suicide law. Inclusion Canada CEO Krista Carr offers the full picture of the country’s dangerous MAID system. She calls on Parliament to say no to expansion for persons whose sole medical condition is a mental illness and scale back MAID eligibility to what was originally intended in 2016.   Track 2 MAID which discriminates against persons with disabilities must be rescinded. This piece is being distributed throughout the country. sudbury.com/columns/guest-co…

Beyond not actually doing anything about it even now, you've been in power for the past 11 years - you built *this* Canada - the one where Jewish communities can't in fact live without fear for their safety. The only emotion you should feel about this is shame.

Revolting. Repulsive.
‘A young Jewish woman was pressured by her CEO to accept being assigned a non-Jewish name at work, in the directory, email & office interactions to avoid offending clients. In Australia, where a trans person’s chosen gender & chosen name must be accepted to avoid offence. If I live to be 100 I will not get over today’s testimony.’ These are the words of one of our Australian followers in response to yesterday’s hearing of the Australian Royal Commission on Antisemitism. She adds, ‘I tried imagining the fallout if anyone had told India Willoughby that he had to use his male name. Then I realised I didn't have the brain capacity to hold the hypocrisy & insanity of both these things.’ One minority is expected to erase itself to avoid offence, while another is protected from offence by institutional force. That is a profound double standard. We say: antisemitism is not a burden for Jews to manage, but an entrenched conspiracy theory that society must confront.

Only the third time I was able to get a pic of this Thrush. Prior to this shot, none have been any good. So glad for the cooperation: Swainson’s Thrush. (more pics to come at some point).

I understand that my personal information, including my home address, was shared publicly on a screen at a recent Alberta separatist event. It was also recorded on video, and is now circulating. This was apparently part of the outrageous data leak of Albertans’ private information, wherein Elections Alberta shared its entire detailed provincial voter database with the “Republican Party of Alberta,” which in turn shared it with some separatist group called the “Centurion Project,” whose leadership then shared my personal information publicly. Over the past few years I have received no shortage of threats from people broadly associated with the separatist / antivax / far right movement in Alberta. So it is disturbing that my personal information is now broadly available, particularly in those circles. While I have been targeted specifically, the broader data breach may also effect vulnerable Albertans, including victims of domestic violence, journalists, activists, judges, and other public servants for years to come. I will retain legal counsel to seek advice on recourse regarding this outrageous and potentially dangerous violation of my personal privacy.

Every word of this. The corruption of Alberta’s democracy by a small group of rogue separatist actors must end. They gained control of the UCP and thereby the fate of the Premier. Now they seem to have access to the entire voters list. open.substack.com/pub/drjare…

With Elections Alberta's capacity to investigate violations under serious doubt, there can be no way to run a credible secession vote that will hold any democratic legitimacy.

There are so many women saying that they’re worried that since the leaking of the Alberta voter list, now their violent ex might be able to find them.

BREAKING (Rare use of that from me that isn't ironic.) So, @jengerson has got a story to tell, and it's genuinely shocking. I've known the outline of this for a few weeks now, but still. Reading it all woven together blew me away. What a major, major fuck up.

We are deeply troubled to learn of Ontario's government's decision to reduce oversight of the province's MAiD Death Review Committee. Any erosion to any oversight is a misstep when MAiD is already on a slippery slope trajectory. MAiD Track 2 needs to be repealed in the meantime reducing oversight makes a bad thing worse. “Oversight bodies are meant to critically evaluate systems, not align with the communities they oversee.” Read more in this G&M article.
Ontario’s Solicitor General promises a “diverse” MAID Death Review Committee—yet the call for members requires applicants to support or practise MAID. theglobeandmail.com/gift/e34…
