My quick $0.02 on yesterday … that Giannis update felt like Milwaukee trying to drum up more of a market at the 11th hour before having to make a call. (At least that’s how it was viewed after checking in w/ some folks). Get the sense any Wolves-Giannis deal still very unlikely.

The Timberwolves are no longer coming hard for Giannis Antetokounmpo, per @basketballtalk
“The rest of the market remains tepid for Antetokounmpo. The Bucks and Knicks talked last summer, but New York is playing in the NBA Finals as this all goes down and is not about to blow up this roster. The Cavaliers don’t want to trade former Defensive Player of the Year Evan Mobley, and that was their only viable path to a deal. Teams in the West that might be a fit (like Minnesota) have not come hard because Antetokounmpo wants to stay in the East.”

Although Adam Silver did not specify anything about a team moving from the Western Conference to the Eastern Conference amid potential expansion to Las Vegas and Seattle, the conversation I've had with multiple league personnel is that the Minnesota Timberwolves are the likliest.

Chris Finch tells .@PAOnTheMic that he does expect Tim Connelly to be active in the trade market this summer. He said the Wolves do like their young core, but doesn't know how significant any change they make will be.
Separately, Finch said they "definitely need another ball handler and playmaker" next to Anthony Edwards. Also mentioned that part of the solution will be to have Terrence Shannon Jr. be the primary ball handler next to Edwards.

The LA Clippers would likely prioritize good players over draft capital in a Kawhi Leonard trade with a package from Minnesota involving Rudy Gobert, Julius Randle, the 28th pick, and an unprotected 2033 first-round pick seen as a potentially optimal package, per @LawMurrayTheNU on the Third Apron Podcast.
“I don’t think the Clippers should be interested in taking back those current Warriors [Draymond Green or Jimmy Butler] or in Andrew Wiggins’ case, former Warriors champion.
The Timberwolves [trade] is probably the best of those … I’m sure Minnesota would love to pair McDaniels, who works out with Kawhi, with Anthony Edwards.
