As a male domestic abuse survivor it is encouraging to see @Springfield1915 domestic abuse support in the South Lakes area of Cumbria has "...officially changed its charity's objective to include MEN..." @ManKindInit Read the article & the green display. tinyurl.com/yck73kus

1. Radio 4 front row tonight: a new production of Noel Coward's Private Lives. The actors wanted the violence to be 50/50. The producer insisted the husband had to display most violence, tecause the vast majority of perpetrators were men, the vast majority of victims women.

Don't take this too seriously, but he may have been thinking of boarding the bus. You alight from the bus when you get off. But many thanks for the description of the video which I now know features Andrew, with whom I went to school.

There is also what appears to be a visually impaired man (with white stick) at the bus stop. It's not clear whether he wants to alight the bus himself or not, but I think there's a point that if he tried, he wouldn't easily spot the cyclists racing past either side of him

1. @DUSaveDave @PhilMitchell83 Please share. R4 Afternoon play today: Livelines (S6E1) by Al Smith: One of the calls is from a man abused by his 20-year-old daughter. It signposts to @MankindInit and Men's Advice Line. bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0018n…

2. @DUSaveDave @MankindInit It's about the working life of Carrie, a 999 call operator. She asks I thought her question to the man was inspired: "Is she creative with her anger". It's just one scene in a 45-minute drama. Part 2 tomorrow. bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0018n…

This is especially likely to be the case since buses with engines running, even the electric ones, make a hell of a lot more noise than the ratchets of a passing bike.

He'd be called out for gaslighting the entire #DomesticAbuse sector. Sounds like she is doing the same.

5/5 Imagine the outrage if a man convicted of abusing a woman said he’s fundraising for an organisation supporting male victims of female violence who end up in the criminal justice system due to resisting/retaliating to abuse Absolute double standard An insult to male victims
62
This elegantly expresses the value of men and the importance of recognising that the good men in your lives could be victims or survivors.
This is brilliant!!! Please do watch and share. #WeAreSurvivors #MenCanTalk

I've seen too many #DomesticAbuse policies, Drug & alcohol abuse policies and the like, which say in the introduction that the policy is gender inclusive, but the rest of the text is written in gendered language: "why doesn't he stop instead of why doesn't she leave', and so on.
Replying to @LeverClive
Inclusion is not inclusion without explicit inclusive messaging, actions, policies and practices- talk backed by action is needed - on male victims of violence we get a footnote in a gendered policy (VAWG), implicit talk and almost no action

This is important to remember, and despite what I've read elsewhere, it works whether the pet owning victim is male or female.
Pets can be used as a means of #DomesticAbuse. The love for a pet can be a barrier to leaving an abusive relationship. @DogsTrust and @CatsProtection care for pets so that people experiencing abuse feel able to leave. #NationalPetMonth #KnowSeeSpeakOut

There came a time a couple of years ago, when reporters replaced the phrase '''#VAWG' with '#Male VAWG', thus discounting female victims of female violence whilst further demonising men, as if the many were collectively guilty for the egregious actions of the few.
Warning: content some may find distressing Examples like this highlighting female on female violence are unlikely to be addressed by those tackling violence against women (VAW)because they care less about tackling VAW & more about tackling VAW by only men local10.com/news/local/2023/…

What's happening in the video? I just hear a load of street sounds.

The responses given to this video are shocking and this is why we urgently need the Equalities Act 2010 to get some teeth or be replaced with legislation that actually protects the blind, visually impaired and disabled peoples access to public transport & the built environment.

The subtext behind that may imply that if you are not pleasing to the eye, or aren't a card carrying member of the 'fairer sex' you can't be good, because that's the preserve of the pretty. How shallow! Beauty is only skin deep and all that.
This whole thread (ever expanding), is pretty dark. It shows a mentality shown a lot with Amber Heard supporters "oh she's so pretty". As though that somehow makes it impossible for them to be a bad person. And so many examples are popping up now.

Inclusion not only has to be done. It has to be seen to be done. If men are included that must be said everywhere you'd expect to read it. Othewise, if you don't say that it 's included, people implementing it may assume it isn't.
Getting good PCC responses to our letter stating the addition of VAWG in the Strategic Policing Requirement DOES actually include men, despite @ukhomeoffice deliberately failing to explicitly say in it that it does. @Dines4Dales @Maggie_Blyth @AssocPCCs gov.uk/government/publicatio…

Is it any wonder that so many guys whow want equality of outcome for both men and women are becoming resigned to the idea that they will always be shoved to the back of the queue?
Replying to @PhilMitchell83
5/5 The article also highlights vulnerable girls. Once again we se vulnerable boys being excluded. Surprise surprise. Is it any wonder many exploitation teams often identify low numbers of at-risk/sexually exploited boys Another poor response affecting boys
32
Some would say this is misandryland, like sending girls to a girls school, and boys to a school where they're taught not to behave like scary monsters and suprecreeps.
Replying to @PhilMitchell83
9/10 "... we need to start educating men, from [when they are] young, about sexism & misogyny & how to treat women" And there we have it! The predictable claim of misogyny that is once again assumed not proven

Clearly the people running the survey didn't give much of a demographic breakdown of the respondents. Not just gender, but was the group ethnically diverse, did it include disabled people and so on?
Replying to @PhilMitchell83
8/10 I wonder if the survey asked men about their experiences? I very much doubt it

Their actions would speak louder than their words.

The Position Statement is below and originally published on 30 March 22. Also worth noting it is meant to complement the #VAWG Strategy and the Domestic Abuse Plan - but rarely mentioned in any meaningful way alongside them - certainly not recently. gov.uk/government/publicatio…

Such recognition is long overdue. Discuss.
Year after @ukhomeoffice issued the Male Victims Position Statement, Minister for Safeguarding's responsibilities still do not "explicitly highlight" male victims. Hugely disappointing and yet extremely telling/symbolic. 10 second job. @CommissionerDA @VictimsComm @Dines4Dales
