The Ontario Food Terminal has been central to Ontario’s food chain for over 70 years. Canada’s new National Food Security Strategy will cut red tape in the agricultural supply chain, helping places like this get food to store shelves more efficiently — bringing your costs down at the store.

Canada’s first-ever National Food Security Strategy means more food grown, processed, moved, and sold here at home. Backed by $3B over 10 years, it will help build more food terminals and hubs, expand Canadian processing, grow more fruits and vegetables year-round, and cut red tape slowing farmers and producers down. For Canadians, that means more choice at the grocery store and a stronger food supply. For agri-food workers, it means more opportunities across the supply chain: from farms, to processing plants, to shelves.

We’re launching a National Food Security Strategy to put Canadians back in control of what we grow, what we buy, and what we put on our tables — and bring down costs for Canadians.

We’ve seen the devastating impact that social media and AI chatbot platforms can have on children. Our Safe Social Media Act will ban social media for children under 16 and require platforms to put children’s safety first in the design of their services.

Today, our government introduced new legislation to protect our kids online. Canada's Safe Social Media Act will hold social media and AI platforms accountable, make them safer, and restrict access to social media for children under 16. More and more kids are suffering from anxiety, depression, self-harm, and exploitation. To keep our kids safe, we have to ensure that our laws keep up with technology.

The new Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit means families will get up to $1,890 this year, helping with the cost of buying groceries and necessities for those who need it most. The first payment went out on Friday — giving a boost to more than 12 million Canadians.
