Hope you’re all enjoying the final days of Spring Break ‘22! Here’s a digital postcard from San Diego, where I found a boat with a great name 😎 You can take the librarian out of the library… you know the rest 😉 See you Monday! #LibrarianLife #SpringBreak #SchoolLibrarian
Saw Ms. Bickus in the library today and said, "You look just like this book I know..." and handed her Transcendent Kingdom by Yaa Gyasi! #LibrarianLife @SpEdBHS @MDemovsky

The last time we celebrated the @LincolnAward was 3/12/20, one day before the world shut down. Extra excited to be in person (w/ 7/8 students who had never participated before!) to collect all the ballots for the 2022 Award! 📸by: @CordinaReads, who read 19/20 titles!

Representation matters.
Yesterday at my NEW FROM HERE signing, I met Moon Lee, a teacher who flew all the way out from Colorado to see me. She took time off work and travelled to tell me what it felt like to finally be seen in books and we both started crying. This is the power of representation!!! 📚
So excited about this new @LincolnAward list! And so proud of the students for choosing Gender Queer as one of the nominated titles! Way to go, team! If you want to apply to be on the student panel, here is the link: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F…
We are very excited to announce the 2023 Lincoln Award nominees! Check out the master list here: drive.google.com/file/d/1Ru4…

Listen to one of our favorite authors, @angiecthomas, speaking out in defense of #BannedBooks 🙌🏼
Thank you @TheDailyShow
Some may think, “This again?” when I make a big deal about #BannedBooksWeek in the library every September. What @RachelCargle says here is exactly why this is so important, and it’s amping up now more than ever. Check out #BannedBooks & #StandWithTheBanned !
Remember every year how I say #BannedBooksWeek is my favorite week of the year? (See pics) Book banning is unfortunately a growing “trend,” but you can stand up for your right to read by checking out a “banned book” (including #Maus) anytime from our library! #StandWithTheBanned

Always love sharing my love of reading *and* literary fashion with @CordinaReads’ classes! Our Lit Lab classes are such a necessary part of what gets students excited about and actively reading— always love when we get to share that enthusiasm together!

Thank you @sljournal for allowing me to speak out about this issue! Censorship and book banning threatens ALL of us—whether it’s your book today or your town tomorrow! slj.com/?detailStory=Kelly-y…

Happy #BannedBooksWeek! I remember the time a Texas school district banned The Hate U Give, and I sold tens of thousands of copies in a week in that same district. Keeping banning my books. I have a second home to buy 😂

It’s my favorite week of the library-programming year! Come on down to the library to celebrate your right to read! And, as pictured, there are lots of interactive activities and resources in the Bitmoji room on Canvas as well! #BannedBooksWeek

Ms. L moved to NYC a few weeks before 9/11 to start her freshman year at NYU. She will have her personal archive on display in the library makerspace on Friday if you are interested in learning what it was like to be an eyewitness @MDemovsky @TonySandersU46 (Photo credit: Ms. L)
