M. Hamilton Rd is closed between Three Springs Rd and Quimby Rd for repairs to the washed out section due to storms. From San Jose to Lick go via Quimby Rd until the repairs are completed (November 2023). Quimby Rd is steeper & narrower than M. Hamilton Rd, DRIVE CAREFULLY.

CalTrans just came up to plow. The road is not closed now. Even though it looked pretty nasty out there just a short time ago, it is clearing up on the western slope. We've heard reports of a propane truck blocking the road about two miles east of the observatory. CHP is on scene

The Mount Hamilton road is now open. HOWEVER the observatory REMAINS CLOSED TO VISITORS. Our parking lots are locked, we still have huge banks of snow obstructing our walkways. We hope to open again soon! #bayareasnow
