⭕️ A Reuters investigation found that RSF commander al-Fateh Abdullah Idris, known as Abu Lulu, has returned to the battlefield months after the UAE-backed paramilitary group publicly jailed him over videos showing him executing unarmed civilians during the 2025 takeover of al-Fashir.
Reuters, citing 13 sources including RSF commanders, intelligence officials, and figures close to RSF leadership, reports Abu Lulu was quietly released despite public promises of accountability after the massacre in Darfur. The RSF denies he was freed.
Videos verified by Reuters showed Abu Lulu shooting at least 15 unarmed captives after the fall of al-Fashir last October. Witnesses in refugee camps in Chad accused him of killings, beatings, and executions of civilians, including women and children.
Reuters also identified other senior RSF commanders near some of the executions, raising further questions about command responsibility. The U.N. sanctioned Abu Lulu in February over human rights abuses.
