I’ll tell ya, friends: Few things in life are as profound as a strong sense of place. Nothing compares to possessing intimate knowledge of a specific spot on this Earth, a piece of the world that is yours, which belongs to you and, deeper still, to which you belong. Who I am was formed here, in the land of the saguaro. Here is my territory. Here is my country. Here is my patria.

I’ll bet no radio station anywhere today other than the mighty KOHN will play Slim Whitman’s version of “Cattle Call.”

“You live in a trailer? In the desert? Dude! That must suck!” Yes, it’s truly awful. This is what I’m seeing right now from where I’m sitting as I look up from my book. Please pity me.

I have owned this piece of land for twenty-six years. In the span of twenty-six years, Wagner completed The Ring cycle. Humbling.

First I had to build a squirrel baffle and then I had to install bird spikes to keep the doves from landing on the camera’s solar panel and crapping on it. What next? I just wanted to feed some birds, man. That’s it. Like the old woman in Mary Poppins, man. Just feed the birds.

In that modernity tossed out principle (on principle, one might say), everything they believe is based on the only thing left after that: power. Rape therefore can't have anything to do with sex; instead, "it's about power." Racism isn't bigotry, it's power--that's why they claim "only white people can be racist." Even when they die, they don't say "Rest in peace," they say, "Rest in power." To just fade away, then, would be to give up the only thing that really matters to them: whatever measure of power remains to them (regardless of how much it might besmirch and belittle their previous accomplishments or achievements).

Why can't these old liberal film-makers, authors and musicians just fade away, enjoy retirement, visit an island somewhere, rather than destroy their legacy being so libtarded? Think it was Joe Rogan who said "Old liberals get so weird", referring to Stephen King.
