ACTION NEEDED: Tell the San Francisco DA not to retry Anastasia Rogers. Anastasia was arrested in San Francisco and charged with intimidation for posting a video on social media contrasting her peaceful pro-life approach with Planned Parenthood’s abortion model. After nearly two weeks of trial, the State failed to convince the jury that Anastasia committed a crime. Ten San Francisco jurors voted to acquit her on one charge, and nine voted to acquit her on the second. The case ended in a mistrial, but it is not over. The San Francisco District Attorney’s Office could still choose to retry Anastasia. Please contact the DA’s Office today and urge them to dismiss the charges and not pursue another trial. Email:

After nearly two weeks of trial, the overwhelming majority of jurors voted to acquit her. Ten jurors voted not guilty on one charge, and nine voted not guilty on the second. Pursuing another trial would not serve justice or the public interest. I respectfully ask your office to dismiss the charges against Anastasia Rogers. Sincerely,

Memorial Day is often seen as a long weekend, a day off work, or the unofficial start of summer. But beneath the gatherings and celebrations is something much more solemn. Today is a day to remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. It is also a day to think of the families they left behind—the parents, spouses, children, siblings, and friends who continue to carry that loss every day. Every human life is valuable and should never be taken for granted. That is why the sacrifice made by so many service members is so profound. To willingly lay down one’s life for another is one of the greatest acts of love a person can make. It stands in direct contrast to a culture that too often treats human life as disposable. Many gave their very lives, and countless others willingly faced the possibility of losing theirs in order to protect others and defend our nation. Their courage reminds us that true love is sacrificial. As Christians, we recognize that this kind of selflessness reflects the sacrifice Christ made for all of us. “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” — John 15:13 Today, let us also pray especially for the families of the fallen. May they never want for food, shelter, or support. May they find comfort in the truth that this world is not our forever home and that Heaven is the goal. This Memorial Day, may we remember with gratitude, pray with sincerity, and honor those who gave everything. Wishing you and your loved ones a meaningful and peaceful Memorial Day. #memorialday #RememberingTheFallen

BREAKING! After working behind the scenes and within the courts for over a year, Operation Rescue and Life Legal Defense Foundation won a huge victory in one of the most pro-abortion states in America, finally obtaining the unredacted copy of Lexi Arguello’s autopsy. Colorado tried to cover it up, but the truth about Lexi Arguello’s death is finally public. After months of legal work and investigation, Life Legal and Operation Rescue have secured a major victory in one of the nation’s most aggressively pro-abortion states: the release of Lexi Arguello’s unredacted autopsy. Lexi was only 18 when she died just hours after a second-trimester abortion at Planned Parenthood in Fort Collins, Colorado. The newly released autopsy concluded that she developed disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), a catastrophic clotting disorder, following the procedure. The forensic pathologist also identified probable amniotic fluid embolism (AFE), a rare but often fatal medical emergency associated with invasive pregnancy procedures, as a significant contributing condition. In testimony supporting a bill that would have required Colorado to license and inspect second-trimester abortion clinics, Dr. Keri Kasun stated that Lexi’s grandfather was told she had been “transferred too late” to the hospital and did not receive the urgency of care she needed. Dr. Kasun further testified that Planned Parenthood staff requested the “silent siren treatment” — meaning no lights or sirens during emergency transport — despite the catastrophic nature of Lexi’s medical condition. Those allegations raised serious questions about what transpired inside the abortion facility — questions Colorado officials attempted to conceal from the public. Instead of allowing the public to learn the truth about what happened to Lexi, Larimer County Coroner Stephen Hanks heavily redacted the autopsy report, blacking out references to the abortion, the complications, and even Lexi’s official cause of death. This was nothing less than an effort to shield a politically protected industry from scrutiny. After the coroner refused to release critical information about the cause of death, Operation Rescue partnered with Life Legal to pursue legal action. Working with Life Legal affiliate attorney Tim Goddard, the legal team — including Life Legal attorney Sheila Green — filed a lawsuit challenging the sweeping redactions and the misuse of public records laws to conceal key medical findings. During a January court hearing, the coroner openly argued that releasing the unredacted autopsy showing how Lexi died would discourage other women from seeking abortions. “This autopsy is one of the few public documents that can expose Planned Parenthood for wrongdoing in the tragic death of Lexi Arguello,” said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue. “It’s also a document that can prove just how dangerous unregulated and unlicensed Colorado abortion clinics have become. Women are dying and state officials are looking the other way.” The judge rejected the coroner’s argument and ordered the release of the full autopsy. This case demonstrates why independent legal advocacy matters so deeply. Without sustained legal action, the public would never have learned the facts surrounding Lexi’s death. Across the country, Life Legal is fighting abortionists and their allies determined to avoid scrutiny and accountability. That work requires months of investigation, research, litigation, and advocacy — often in hostile jurisdictions. #JusticeForLexi #LexiArguello #OperationRescue #LifeLegal

Today, March 31, 2026, marks the 21st anniversary of Terri Schiavo’s death. A child born on that day in 2005 is now not only an adult but legally able to drink. That child has been an adult for three long years and may be serving in the U.S. military. Terri died in great pain, after a period of starvation and dehydration initiated by her husband Michael, who insisted in court for years on his plan of subjecting her to torture and termination. Along with other pro-lifers – and with her loving parents and brother – Life Legal opposed this outcome to the bitter end. Perhaps, however, I don’t need to tell you all this. We remember Terri. People who witness such an abominable crime as the excruciating starvation of Terri Schiavo are typically so horrified that they feel the need for some consolation…. “At least her suffering is over now,” they might say. And, for what it’sworth, that’s true. Moreover, this perception gives the lie to advocates of what they mischaracterize as “euthanasia,” which means “good death.”  Often, these propagandists claim they want to put sufferers “out of their misery.”  But we pro-lifers remember different. We remember that Michael Schiavo put Terri into and through her misery, not out of it…. “She had no quality of life,” they might say. But who gets to determinewhat constitutes a sufficient quality of any life? Terri responded to her family. She was loved and cared for. A society that measures human life by “quality” inevitably becomes a society that discards the weak, the disabled, and the inconvenient. “Terri’s case awakened the nation to the vicious pseudo-medical ethic that made her annihilation possible,” some might say. Or perhaps that’sonly me. At any rate, it’s as true as the earlier consolations. Pro-life forces did not wither in the face of ridicule when hostile media outlets exalted Michael Schiavo’s despicable betrayal as some kind of “act of love.”  Pro-lifers stood strong against the lies. And their strength had an effect. Still, I think one of the most consoling things we can say about the atrocity committed in this case is simply this: that we remember Terri. The object of Terri’s termination was, after all, to snuff her out completely. It’s not hard to see the parallels between this exercise in cruelty and the destruction of a child in the womb to conceal a pregnancy. The sex abuser who brings his victim to an abortion mill for timely erasure of the evidence would easily understand Michael Schiavo’s motivation for eliminating his wife. Flush the problem down the toilet and begin anew! Indeed, Michael’s particular strategy in spouse elimination involved the obliteration of memory. Early in his custody of Terri after she became disabled, he professed in court a determination to devote his life to her continuing care. Later, after the settlement was exhausted, he conveniently forgot this commitment and remembered instead something he had never mentioned before: that Terri had told him she didn’t want to continue life in a disabled state. This brand-new memory finally did the trick, though Life Legal and others didn’t make it easy for him. Nevertheless, Michael Schiavo was not ultimately victorious. He didn’t snuff Terri out the way he planned to, secretly, as if she had never existed. We remember Terri. The enemies of our principled ethic in defense of human life want us to forget. If only we’d all forget, things would go a lot smoother for them. But we will not forget. We will remember Terri in every case where someone is forced to suffer the removal of life-saving care—and every time we stand for a life others say is not worth living.

Government exists to protect life—not facilitate death. Life Legal has filed an amicus brief in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit challenging Delaware’s assisted suicide law. The brief argues that the Constitution does not permit the government to help people end their lives. “Compassion never means abandoning someone to death,” said Alexandra Snyder, CEO of Life Legal Defense Foundation. “True compassion means protecting life and standing with people in their suffering—especially when they are most vulnerable.” We are grateful to stand alongside a coalition of organizations committed to defending the dignity of human life, including Alliance Defending Freedom, Catholic Medical Association, CatholicVote Legal Fund, Chayim Aruchim, Christ Medicus Foundation, Christian Medical & Dental Association, Concerned Women for America, Delaware Family Policy Council, Delaware Right to Life, Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, National Association of Catholic Nurses, National Catholic Bioethics Center, National Catholic Partnership on Disability, and the Rabbinical Alliance for America. Together, we continue defending life in the courts. #ProLife #DefendLife #AssistedSuicide #HumanDignity #LifeLegal #Bioethics #ProtectLife #Delaware

Six Simple Steps That Could Save Your Life As we begin a new year, many people make commitments to improve their health, finances, or spiritual life. This year, we invite you to consider a few life-saving resolutions—simple but meaningful steps that can help protect you and your loved ones. Over the past few weeks alone, Life Legal has received an unusually high number of urgent calls from families facing life-and-death decisions in hospitals. These are not rare or hypothetical situations. They are happening now, often with little warning—and families are frequently unprepared for how quickly care decisions can change. With that in mind, here are several resolutions worth considering as you enter 2026: 1. Remove your name from the organ donor registry. Recent federal investigations have raised serious concerns about organ procurement practices. You can still choose to be an organ donor even if you are not on the registry by making your wishes known to a trusted health care agent (see below). 2. Execute an Advance Health Care Directive. An advance directive allows you to clearly state your wishes regarding medical care if you cannot speak for yourself. Without one, life-and-death decisions may be made by hospitals or courts—not your loved ones. 3. Designate a trusted health care agent who understands your values. Choosing the right person matters. Make sure they understand—and are willing to defend—your beliefs regarding life-sustaining treatment, including hydration, nutrition, and ventilator support. 4. Share your wishes with your family. Many tragic cases arise not from bad intentions, but from confusion, fear, or disagreement among loved ones. Thoughtful conversations now can prevent unnecessary suffering later. 5. Learn the warning signs of medical abandonment. Patients are increasingly being labeled “futile,” with food, water, or basic care deemed “non-beneficial.” If you notice sudden changes in care or decision-making, seek immediate help. Knowing your rights—and knowing who to call—can save lives. 6. Keep Life Legal’s contact information accessible. When life-threatening decisions are made quickly, time matters. We regularly intervene to restore care, protect patient rights, and defend the vulnerable—often with only hours to spare. Contact us at 707.224.6675 or help@LifeLegal.org. For those who would like to understand more about why this is happening and how to protect themselves, we have provided additional details and resources here. If you would like resources or guidance on advance directives, patient rights, or how to protect yourself or a loved one, we are here to help. Thank you for standing with us as we defend life at its most vulnerable moments. We are deeply grateful for you and wish you a healthy and happy New Year! Life Legal is guided by longstanding moral teaching that food and water—even when provided medically—are ordinary care and should not be withdrawn from patients because of disability, brain injury, or prognosis. When society redefines death as “care,” the most vulnerable inevitably bear the cost. This article is a sobering reminder of how easily despair can be mistaken for compassion. Every human life bears God-given worth, and even our suffering can become a place where grace, perseverance, and deeper love take root. Let us pray for those who feel alone—and for all who have been led to believe their lives no longer matter. open.substack.com/pub/brianj…

Eighteen-year-old Alexis “Lexi” Arguello died after a second-trimester abortion at Planned Parenthood’s Fort Collins facility. Planned Parenthood has offered no explanation. No statement. No accountability. Life Legal — working in partnership with Operation Rescue — is committed to uncovering what really happened. We are demanding emergency records and other documents to understand why a healthy young woman — and her unborn child — are now dead. Thus far, officials have refused to provide the transparency that the law — and basic human decency — require. What we’ve uncovered so far is deeply troubling and raises urgent questions about how Planned Parenthood handles medical emergencies. Lexi was not a statistic. She was an 18-year-old girl who deserved better. Read what happened to Lexi — and why we are taking action.
