Let's talk BPD real quick, the internet has got it fucked up, beyond belief.
BPD =/= Bipolar Disorder, it stands for "Borderline Personality Disorder" which is a TRAUMA disorder, extremely important. Bipolar can also be a trauma disorder but also cannot be. BPD is specifically a trauma disorder.
BPD is created when someone is inflicted by so much trauma in their life, most likely from a person like a parent or a partner, that they develop this disorder in order to deal with the effects. It is debilitating and effects relationships, work life balance, mood, and more. It is, treatable but not CURABLE. This is a big misunderstanding about mental health disorders, you can be treated and develop coping mechanisms to no longer qualify for the diagnosis but that most likely means you are in remission.
With that being said. BPD is not an evil disorder, BPD does not make you a sociopath, psychopath, narcissist, abusive, etc. Just because there are people weaponize mental health does not mean that everyone is like that. Not to mention self-diagnosis is rampant on the internet so if I hear another one of you mfs say "every girl I dated had bpd and were crazy" holy shit shut up.
I didn't start talking about BPD until the misinformation got so rampant I couldn't stand it anymore. From both sides too. But people with BPD can live a functioning life and have relationships.
Ya'll just aren't ready to provide anything more than bare minimum in a relationship and it shows.
All people who have mental health disorders need is communication and consistency (not to be mistaken with constant reassurance, that is not what I am saying) which requires transparency and humility. Which I have seen time and time again, nobody wants to do all that.
If you can't handle dealing with someone with a disorder, just say you are not equipped. Also people with BPD do go to therapy, DBT skills, and other methods of coping. I have not met a single diagnosed BPD person that didn't want to help themselves. Because it is extremely isolating and makes you want to never have friendships or other relationships because of how unstable they can make you. It's as I said, debilitating. Stop generalizing mental health, you are doing harm to people.
