HAPPY NEW YEAR! Improving our health and happiness is not as hard as we think it is. Nor does it have to cost a lot of money! These are 7 small things (that are completely free to do!!) that can have a transformative impact on the quality of our lives when done regularly: 1. Prioritise meaningful relationships - the quality of your relationships hugely influences the quality of your life 2 . Have a daily practice of solitude - in a world where we are constantly being bombarded with more information, it is essential that you spend a bit of time each day with your own thoughts getting to know yourself 3. Go for a walk every lunchtime - this can help reduce stress, increase creativity, enhance focus and expose you to natural light, which in turn can help you sleep better 4. Stop taking things personally - this is a skill that I would highly recommend you work on. Even a small improvement here will have a transformative effect on your health and happiness! 5. Judge yourself and others less - this will help you engage with the world in a much more compassionate way. 6. Listen to an uplifting podcast each week - if you choose the right ones, podcasts can be uplifting, educational and transformative. Find one that you enjoy and listen to regularly. (Feel, Better, Live More is pretty good if you need a recommendation ;)) 7. Acknowledge one thing you're grateful for each day - a regular practice of gratitude can do wonders for your mental health and general sense of wellbeing. What do you think? What would you add? And, if you want more practical advice on how to make changes that actually last this year, check out my BRAND NEW BOOK 'Make Change That Lasts: 9 Simple Ways To Break Free From The Habits That Hold You Back'. At this time of year, there was such a big pressure to be sociable. Honestly, Robin liked being alone sometimes. He wasn’t being rude, he didn’t want coaxing out, and there was no need to worry about him. He really just fancied a bit of ‘me time’ amongst the hustle and bustle.
