This is super important at secondary level. Reading gets squeezed out at secondary, not just because its value is not seen but to be replaced by YouTube and PowerPoints. How often are your secondary students read to?
A headteacher said something to me this week that I’ve been thinking about since. Her teachers enjoy reading to their classes. They value it. They know pupils enjoy it too. But they do not always see it as the best use of their time.
