How does racism affect a child? For me, the racism my family and I faced made me feel like a lesser human being and left a scar inside that affected my confidence for years. But I loved to read and was fortunate to find answers about inequality from philosophers of the past. (#2)

I was born in Detroit, Michigan. As a child, I heard the phrase "go back to your own country" more times than I can count. People threw rocks at our house and car, and I remember knowing even at my young age that our neighbors hated us because we looked different. (#1)
