The First Sunday after Trinity 2026 Sermon on Christ cloaked in human suffering, “suddenly a woman who had been suffering from a flow of blood for twelve years came up behind him and touched the fringe of his cloak”

After a short service, it was a joy to hoist our new flag in the churchyard, at Liverpool's Pierhead, where there's been a church since before King Edward III made George England's patron saint. @LiverpoolParish

On St George's Day at 12.15pm we bless and fly a new flag, hand sewn in Bootle for @LiverpoolParish. It bears the diocesan arms. We'll give thanks for England's patron saint, his faith and courage; sing Jerusalem; and pray for the peace and welfare of the city, nation, and world.

At the end of the Easter Vigil last night I was delighted to be asked to uncork the first bubbling bottle, kindly shared by generous parishioners, as an invitation to everyone present to celebrate the Resurrection, and six adults baptised, after a rigorous Lent. @LiverpoolParish

A busy Passion Sunday, with over 100 people in church. Sunday School worked on the Gospel reading, wedding couples came to 'Meet the Team' of those who will be involved in their weddings and pollinator plants were put in the garden to help our Eco church drive.

Pink vestments for Laertare Sunday (also a celebration of Mothering Sunday) Daffodils as well. It was fabulous to see so many people in church despite all the restrictions that had been put in place for the half marathon. We are very grateful for our very committed congregation.

This vestment was tucked away at the back of a deep drawer in the @liverpoolparish Vestry. The embroidered motifs of the Passion were almost certainly done by a now forgotten needlewoman, and it's good to bring her art into the light again, this Lent, to the greater glory of God.

Today is the anniversary of the creation of the first Duke of Lancaster, in 1351. Liverpool remains part of the ceremonial county of Lancashire, so this morning we hoisted the Duchy banner in the churchyard, flying by the Mersey.
