GM! Mirror Into Auntieverse is an interactive installation that replaces your reflection with a speaking auntie from the Auntieverse. Built within a nineteenth century Napoleon III mirror frame sourced from Les Puces de Saint Ouen in Paris, the work uses real time motion capture to track visitors and overlay their faces with one of eight aunties, each with her own voice and personality. After a few seconds, she speaks. Her remarks are blunt, familiar, and rooted in what I call the "auntie love language," a mode of care expressed through directness and unsolicited commentary.
First produced in collaboration with Load Gallery for Paris Photo 2025, the mirror has since been upgraded with more aunties and wireless polaroid printing.
Mirror Into Auntieverse is currently on view as part of my solo exhibition Auntiescapes at Load Gallery Barcelona, until 15 August 2026. It is also available for collection!
