New London local 1522 participated in Fire Ops 101 in Hartford today. Fire Ops 101 gives city officials the opportunity to see what being a firefighter is like and entails. We would like to thank counselor Akil Peck for attending today.

29 years ago today Acting Lieutenant John O’Connor was killed in the line of duty in a multiple alarm fire on Truman Street. Today New London firefighters and John O’Connors family gathered today to honor his sacrifice.

Busy start to Christmas Eve for NLFD. E2 and A200 were dispatched to I95 for a motor vehicle accident. While they were responding to the highway E1, E3, T2, A100, and BC1 responded to 164 Shaw St for an odor of burning in the basement
All units operated at a working fire at 16 Bolles Avenue for a fire in the attic. The fire was reported at 5:12 am and Red Cross was needed for relocation.
At 7:29 am units responded to Briggs Street at the ramp to North Frontage Road for a fire involving a trailer truck.
On December 15th at 05:34 hours. All city companies were dispatched to 39 Truman street for a reported building fire. Upon arrival members found smoke on the second floor and a fire in a bedroom. The fire was quickly brought under control.
