As devs have realized they can "cheat" and make incoherent gameplay systems, all "balanced" by meters/ammo This has become a PRESSING point to stress

If the only counter force a super strong tool has, is how many times you can use it, the only depth you are really rescuing is routing it, nothing more It will still trivialize important encounters where the player will actually use it

Not to say things don't happen by chance sometimes, in fact part of the challenge of making a coherent system is making sure chance also feels crafted with intention, but its safe to say many "they probably didnt intend it" are actually intentional, for better or worse

I guess actually Fight n' Rage does capture that dynamic quite a bit, probably why its such a fav of mine. But its done in a sloppier way there, and the SuperJOI is far less engaging to use

Not to shit on Punisher or Caddillacs too much, but in those games the SuperJOI is very much a "I fucked up 3 moves ago" or a setup tool In Final Fight it feels as mandatory to use as your jab

Also to clarify, I do not mean "optional" from a POV of player expression or anything like that But in those games it feels like if you play really well, you wont need it to pass, while in many Final Fight sections I dont see what you can do without using it a lot
