A few ππ€π from
@usabjnt U17 trials session 4 (Sunday morning).
Only 1 session to go before we go get our final 12 from this reduced pool of 22.
Half court 4x4 & 5x5 ruled the morning session, meaning they will probably play a ton of full court in the final session.
Each position and angle to make the team (in alphabetical order)..
PG
Jazmin Bailey - in the convo as best perimeter defender here..has done a very solid job facilitating. Takes the top off the defense with her speed - very possibly fastest end to end player in the national class.
Love Best - seemingly hit every open shot this morning..smaller, but a super smooth operator.
Jhaliana Guy - steady as they come, does whatever is needed offensively and has held her own defensivelyβ¦very good morning session.
Chloe Johnson - does the comittee see Chloe as a 1 or 2? Great size and IQ with ability to knock down open shots if at the 1.
Morghan Reckley - playmaker extradoinaire on both ends. Dynamic off the bounce late in shot clock situations. Terrific instincts defensively.
SG
Tatianna Griffin - steady and productive. Imposes her physical strength, which could be a team strength against the world if the committee chooses to play βbigβ lineups.
Olivia Jones - experienced and skilled. Veteran presence and ability to hit shots.
Ari Robinson - strong as the come and gets to her pull-up at will. Alpha athleticism on both ends.
Wing
Jordyn Haywood - great length and hit multiple open jumpers this morning.
Ashley MacCalla - breakout weekend, possibly best pure athlete here - much improved confidence with her 3-ball.
Micah Ojo - very possibly the most complete player here - no holes in her game.
Ari Peterson - lockdown defender with length. If she knocks down the open shots in this last sessionβ¦
Ivanna Wilson-Manyacka - a spectacular morning session. Physically dominant and if hitting open shots like this morning could be in MVP convo at worlds.
Forward
JaKaila Gaskin - great frame, motor, and physicality. Had a super solid weekend.
Reece Gilpatrick - supremely skilled with elite length and size. Perfect stretch 4/5 with her ability to shoot it.
Maliya Hunter - Swiss-army knifeβ¦knocks down the corner 3β¦good length and versatility defensively.
Eve Long - eye-popping moments athletically. When finishing consistently tough to stop with her length and athleticism.
Nya Riak - has put herself deep into the convo with her inside-outside versatility. Shot the 3-ball pretty well throughout.
Nation Williams - physical presence and best rebounder all weekend. Can be intimidating to opponents with her motor and physicality.
Center
Caroline Bradley - top player this weekend for me. Physically dominant in the post with excellent habits rim running and protecting the paint.
Harper Dunn - had a very solid morning session. Great touch and mobility at her size.
Saniyah Murray - another stock riser this weekend. Terrific footwork and soft touch offensively. Definite inside scoring punch.
