🗣️UPDATE ON THE FORGOTTEN FIELD PROJECT
A major milestone was reached last night in the Forgotten Field Project.✅
After weeks of searching, trapping, waiting, worrying, and hoping,
@gandolf_s Priya successfully trapped the final three cats from Group 3. 🤗
A feral female is at the vet today and will be TNR. There are two kittens, a sweet cow baby and a gray baby.(photo)
The rescue is officially F.U.L.L. to the rafters.
Every crate, and spare corner is occupied.
Four weeks.
Sixteen kittens and cats were rescued.
Here’s how it breaks down…
🐈⬛ Group One. Has six. Poppy, Willow, Clover, Meadow,Teddy, Aster.
🐈⬛ Group Two. Has seven. 6 kittens (so far only Zena has a name) 1 Adult female.
🐈⬛ Group Three. Has three (surviving). 1 adult female and 2 kittens.
*4 kittens in Group 3 tragically lost their lives to the road before we could get to them.😭🌈rip sweet innocent babies.
These precious beings no longer have to endure the hunger, fear, and danger of life in the forgotten field.
We take comfort in knowing that 16 are now safe, but our hearts still ache for the four babies who found their way out too soon. They rest beyond our reach now, and losing them this way was soul crushing. So many saw them, and did nothing. 😡
But rescue is only the beginning.
Now comes the costly part. The extraordinary cost of veterinary care. The exams. The vaccines. The testing. The spay and neuter surgeries. The microchips. The food. The litter. The cleaning. The daily care that transforms frightened field kittens into healthy, loved companions.
Add in our aging sanctuary gang of 18…and we now have a 34 member choir singing “Feed me, scoop my poop, give me a cuddle, take me to the dr” in unison!
We have spent weeks getting cats and kittens out of danger.
Now we must provide everything that comes next.
The Forgotten Field Project Fund was created for this very moment: to ensure that every life brought out of the field receives the care, medical attention, food and chance at a future that they deserve.
Yes, this is where we ask for your dollars. To help a baby be ready for their new home and create the space we need to help more.
The conveyor belt of kitten season has been turned on…and we have to keep it moving.
The reality in adoptions is, sadly, the older they get, the harder it is to get them adopted. We love them deeply, no matter their age. But they need to have loving homes.
But there is a saying in rescue:
"Every adoption opens a space. Every open space saves a life."
The empty crates aren’t crates, they are... CUBICLES OF PROMISE. And there are more in the field waiting for us.
Please help if you can. And share.
It's a lot.😳
Please look to my bio for links. The algorithm gods keep eyes from seeing you when you place them here. 🙄the kittens need more eyes, not less.
