EU Vice-President Henna Virkkunen is helping roll out a new EU age verification app. But the app can be bypassed with simple tools like a VPN
When a reporter asked how the EU will stop kids from using VPNs to get around the rules, Virkkunen said:
“It’s difficult, of course, to have the technological solutions that there’s no way to circumvent … it’s also an important part of next steps to look at [the issue] that it shouldn’t be circumvented.”

I've warned for months that a @JetBlue-@SpiritAirlines merger would have led to fewer flights and higher fares.
@JusticeATR and @USDOT were right to stand up for consumers and fight against runaway airline consolidation.

Neutrality is uncomfortable. It is also necessary.
It asks you to hold a line when holding it is unpopular. To build infrastructure that serves people you'll never agree with, alongside people you would. To resist commercial, political, and social pressure and become a gatekeeper.
Most institutions fail this test.
The ones that pass become infrastructure for billions.
@signalapp refused to log. @ProtonMail refused to read. @telegram and @durov refused to hand over keys. None of them are perfect. All of them are necessary. They became the institutions of our era not by taking a side, but by refusing to.
Money has not had this. Every dollar of digital settlement today runs through rails that can be frozen, reversed, or denied. Not because the technology requires it, but because the issuer chose it.
That choice is the product. And it is a fragile one.
The world needs a settlement layer that holds the line the same way Signal and Proton do for communication. Censorship-resistant by architecture, not by promise. Backed by real institutional assets, not by trust in a single jurisdiction.
Neutral. Boring. Permanent.
