Prepping for ski season with a quick pre visit to Collingwood. No snow yet, but loads (and loads) of people. This town is Banff of the East—or Oakville of the North—not sure which is more appropriate. #Thread
On the other hand, this new version of #collingwood has some realllly great pubs and bakeries. The bay is a special shade of blue. The trails are fabulous. & at least one seasoned store owner offered a sunny greeting. “You win the prize,” I told her, “for being happy to see us.”
In one store, where every item was white, there were signs on merchandise that said “Don’t Touch!” and “Ask for assistance!” Inside, the shopkeeper never lifted her head. I’m surprised there wasn’t a warning on the front door: “Do Not Enter!”
Change can be good in a #skitown (mostly), especially if you own real estate. But I gotta say, I got an uncomfortable Pretty Woman shopping vibe from a few of the retailers on main street … we were frowned at, sized up, and dismissed crazy quickly.
