This is incredible. So many zines!
We've a great batch of zines in this year's DIY Methods, our annual conference-by-mail. Packages should hopefully have arrived to all participants. And now today everyone can enjoy the zines via our digital proceedings! hcommons.org/deposits/item/h… #DIYMethods24

There's so much more! We hope you enjoy reading (and looking and touching and doing) this work as much as we have. Have a zine party with your coauthors and kvetching partners, maybe, feel emboldened to make zines of your own, and find the forms that fit your research!

The fine folks at CoMMPCT are giving away a really beautiful publication at the AAA/CASCA meeting, and for free online! It's a zine exploring the affordances of print in multimodal/public anthropology. It includes highlights from a conversation w/ Mark Fischer, @sadreorafai I

Let's share more #DIYMethods23 highlights, this time focusing on experiments with poetry. 3 zines in our proceedings (hcommons.org/deposits/item/h…) turn to poems to memorialize, interrogate, and/or react to research data... 🧵

Finally (for today) is @MelanieDUnrau's The Tracking Line(s), which works with the poetry of a tar sands industrialist with the aim of drawing out the submerged perspectives of the Indigenous labourers bringing the first shipment of bitumous sands out of Fort McMurray.

Text here is layered, decomposed and re-composed, referencing the visual motif of the tracking line (a crew of men wearing harnesses, strapped to a heavy boat, pulling it upstream from the shore). #DIYMethods23
