The Geraldton waxflower is an interesting evergreen of Western Australian flora. It belongs to the myrtle family, to which the common myrtle (Myrtus communis) also belongs. It has adapted to the dry climate. This can be seen most clearly on the leaves, that have a needle shape.

Zantedeschias are swamp perennials that originate from eastern Africa. There are several species in this genus. Zantedeschia aethiopica has heart-shaped leaves and beautiful white flowers called spatha. Altogether, these stunning flowers and leaves grow up to 80 cm long.
