I believe each of us has a responsibility to look after our communities.
Loving our country isn’t just about how we feel—it’s about what we do. It means rolling up our sleeves and helping, paying our taxes, giving our time to volunteer, working in jobs that care for people, serving in the military and the emergency services, being polite, and getting to know our neighbours. It means serving others—whether that’s joining programmes that support older people, fostering children, or just stepping in when someone needs a hand.
Waving a flag is fine, but if it isn’t matched by real, practical service, it’s just empty symbolism.
