Houston soccer fans enjoyed an official watch party for the Mexico vs. South Africa opener for the FIFA World Cup at Shell Energy Stadium on Thursday. Attendance at the event reached 12,226, according to the Houston Dynamo, and Mexico fans cheered loudly as the team played their way to a winning 2-0.

The Red Raiders will face No. 2 University of Alabama in the semifinal game of the Women’s College World Series. Tech will have to beat Alabama twice to advance, once at 6 p.m. and again at 8:30 p.m. Monday. If Tech loses in either game, it is eliminated, and Alabama will advance to the championship series.
