I’ve been saying for a while that Newcastle’s first choice goalkeeper target this summer would be James Trafford. But there is a lot to work through. He spent a long time last summer telling people he was signing for #nufc and it didn’t happen as Man City swooped in. Naturally there has to be caution. It is my understanding he has made positive noises again about wanting to play for Newcastle again recently. But it’s a difficult deal and will be expensive in terms of both fee and wages. I think he would be a great signing. So do Newcastle’s recruitment team but it’s a tricky one to pull off. Let’s see what happens.

I’m heading to Glasgow tomorrow, invited myself to Scotland’s World Cup party. If I listen to this just once on the way up I know I’ll be singing Scott McTominay with a bicycle kick randomly for the rest of it. Ear worm. @jj_bull

Also worth pointing out that if you now read the story on the Sun website you will see it has been dramatically altered #nufc #mufc
There has been no falling out between Eddie Howe and Lewis Hall. If anything the player is extremely grateful for the work done to turn him into an England international during his time at Newcastle. Worth pointing out Hall and Howe also share the same agent. If Hall wanted to leave they would have been told #nufc

A lot of people mocking Newcastle for the Anderson deal. Easy target but they were forced to sell him. If they hadn’t, they would have breached PSR and faced a ten point penalty. The rules working as they intended to stop them accelerating growth. It, to put it bluntly, f***** them. Nobody wanted to sell him. Forest negotiated a brilliant deal for them taking advantage of #nufc desperation.

I really hope Ben does not retire. He’s made a mistake. He has been held accountable and emotions are bound to be running high. He’s a hot head - I know as he didn’t particularly like me at times when I covered Durham CCC - but he’ll regret retiring early for many years to come. He has too much still to give as an England cricketer to walk away because he’s hurt and embarrassed now. He’s bounced back before and can do so again
"ECB executives held an emergency meeting on the matter on Tuesday and are keen for Stokes not to rush into a decision." All options remain on the table for Ben Stokes as he considers his position ⤵️ telegraph.co.uk/cricket/2026…

As ever it's important to know the facts re the Ben Stokes/Gus Atkinson nightclub 'incident.' The 'Bristol brawl' turned out to have other dimensions. Let's wait to hear about the Saracens element. But Stokes has no wriggle room on discipline, especially after the Ashes fiasco.

I’m not sure why he keeps being linked to #nufc. This was the situation six days ago
Newcastle like Marco Palestra but they have not made any attempt to sign him at this stage and believe he is heading elsewhere anyway. Suspicion their name has been used to flush out others. Welcome to another summer transfer window #nufc

🚨 Newcastle United are on the brink of completing their first signing of the summer with the capture of Reims' 20-year-old goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen. The Frenchman's arrival is the first evidence of the club's new approach to prioritise potential over proven quality, with the long-term plan being to compete for silverware consistently and qualify for Europe every year by 2030. @LukeEdwardsTele has the full details ⬇️ telegraph.co.uk/rugby-union/…

Great to see my old friend Kieron Dyer finally get the manager’s job he wanted. Like me, he’s older and wiser… I was always the wise one to be fair. He’d tell you that himself 🤣
🦐 We are pleased to announce the appointment of Kieron Dyer as our new Head Coach on an initial two-year contract, with a club option for a third year. Read more 🔽
