In LA it’s not about who has the best bars, who dropped the best album, who has the best stage presence. It’s about who’s from what hood, who’s name still good in their hood, who has smut on their name, who did what in the streets or in jail, etc. It’s really politics over raps.

Too Short is actually one of the first California rappers period. And I’d say he’s just as influential as NWA maybe even more, he really created a distinct sound with Born to Mack which came out in 1987 a year before Straight Outta Compton.
