My second highlighted game of Day 3 at the Marble City Invitational had that big game feel before the ball even went up. WV Thunder โ27 VEZ and FBC Reign โ27 walked in like two heavyweights, both loaded, both ready, and neither backing down from the moment.
From the tip, it was on!
The energy was electricโฆ not just on the floor, but pouring out of the stands. Every possession felt earned. Defense was tight on both sides, forcing tough looks, and even when shots fell, they came through pressure. The ball movement was sharp, cuts were hard and purposeful, and neither team gave an inch. After one, the Thunder held a slim 14-10 edge, but it already felt like a war.
The second quarter stayed right in that same laneโฆ physical, intense, and competitive. WV started to find a little more breathing room, though, hitting some big shots from deep at the right time. Those timely buckets gave them just enough separation to carry momentum into the break.
Then the game shifted in the third.
After FBC lost #22, you could feel the momentum flip. WV Thunder sensed it and wasted no time pressing the advantage. They turned up the pressure, attacked with confidence, and began to stretch the lead. By the end of the third, it had grown into a 42-32 gap, with Thunder firmly in control.
But FBC didnโt fold.
That fourth quarter was all heart. FBC came out swinging, leaving everything they had on the floor, fighting possession by possession, trying to claw back. But WV Thunder wasnโt letting this one slip. They stayed composed, kept applying pressure, and matched every push with control and execution down the stretch to seal it 57-44.
WV Thunder was led by #4
@shelbiekmills, who caught fire in a big way, dropping 18 points and going a perfect 5-5 from beyond the arc. Every shot felt like a dagger, coming at key moments and shifting momentum every time.
FBC Reign was led by #13
@Lyde__Maria, who battled all game and stuffed the stat sheet with 13 points, 3 steals, 4 rebounds, and a block, bringing energy on both ends and refusing to let her team go quiet.
This one had everythingโฆ intensity, momentum swings, adversity, and a response. Two tough squads, one statement win.
