BREAKING: Ahead of recording a @SciFrTheFringe podcast on the latest Lyme disease developments at @HHSGov, @danaparish (aka my mom's favorite member of @BiosafetyNow) and I met for dinner in NYC last night to see if we could agree on two important questions: (1) Is a single dose of doxycycline enough? (Answer: NO) and (2) has Richard Ebright finally seen the light and become a fellow "LymeTruther"? (Answer: YES)

🚨 🚨 INSUFFICIENT EVIDENCE FOR 1-DOSE DOXY TO PREVENT LYME 🚨 “…trial design…did not allow investigators to draw any conclusions regarding the prevention of Lyme…the primary end-point was prevention of an EM rash at the bite site. Three patients with symptoms of early Lyme & evidence of seroconversion were not identified as disease positives because they lacked an EM rash at the bite site. The six-week observation was too short to determine whether later manitestations of the illness were prevented…”

If it was my loved one I definitely would not be choosing one dose doxy. Read and listen to Dana’s posts so you understand why.

A “virus” at camp 🤦🏻‍♀️. Sounds like Lyme. Which kids often get at camp and which is often mistaken for a virus (IDK WHY!) and which can cause ADEM. As an aside, Lyme can also cause MS, which JLS has.

🛑 Tick season is off to a brutal start. CDC data shows ER visits for bites at highest levels since 2017. Doctors are warning this could be a record year for Lyme, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, Babesia, Alpha Gal (meat allergy) etc. Prevention is key! Permethrin-treated shoes, socks over light-colored pants, frequent tick checks, throwing clothes in dryer for 10-15 min, repellent on exposed skin 🔥

I was just asked what’s been the one most effective treatment I’ve seen for Long Covid, & I’ve seen lots. It’s been antibiotics. The virus persists, causing reactivation of other infections. Some, ie bartonella, are antibiotic responsive. Some need different treatments.
