We are on Twitter! Our @MRC_LMS research group, run by Professors Amanda Fisher and Matthias Merkenschlager, is based at @ImperialMed Hammersmith Campus. We study how #GeneExpression patterns are established, transmitted through #CellDivision and changed during #Development.
🧬DNA inherited from one parent is expressed more in some parts of the body, and the reverse in others. New study in @NatureGenet shows how competition between X chromosomes in females shapes who we are News here ➡ lms.mrc.ac.uk/just-like-your… Paper here ➡nature.com/articles/s41588-0…

Very excited to finally see our study out! We developed new models to study utrophin and dystrophin's gene expression patterns in vivo by bioluminescence and explored possible therapeutic options for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

H3K9me3 is important for chromosome architecture and epigenetic memory during cell division.
Drs. Amanda Fisher and Dounia Djeghloul's team showed that enzymes that catalyze H3K9 #methylation are retained on mitotic #chromosomes 🧬. @LymphDev@MRC_LMSgo.nature.com/3TzUB38

Researchers @MRC_LMS@IreneYNadie@LymphDev show inducible genes and enhancers are regulated mainly by transcriptional burst frequency that this is coordinated in single cells and individual alleles and requires cohesin.
