Midlands Air Ambulance Charity has opened a new shop in Market Drayton to help fund its lifesaving work as the organisation celebrates 35 years of service. The opening took place on Friday 22nd May 2026, and was warmly welcomed by members of the local community. The ribbon was officially cut by the Mayor of Market Drayton, Tim Manton, joined by Deputy Mayor Councillor Phil Glover, the Town Crier and the town’s much loved Gingerbread Man. Thank you to Mike Deakin and all our dear friends at Babcock International for this wonderful 35th Anniversary gift. Babcock has been our aviation partner for over 30 years and has kindly gifted us a window from one of our old aircraft, which was principally based at our Strensham airbase and flew countless lifesaving missions throughout its service. The window has been signed by many members of the Babcock team that we’ve had the pleasure of working with over the years, making it an especially meaningful keepsake. As we reflect on 35 years of lifesaving service, this thoughtful and sentimental gift will always remind us of the strong partnership that have helped make our work possible.

It was a pleasure to welcome Matt Bishop MP (Forest of Dean, , Gloucestershire) back to Strensham. Having visited while the site was still under construction just over a year ago, he was delighted to see the progress made since then. During his visit, Matt took a keen interest in the support available to our Clinical Care Practitioners (CCPs), particularly around mental health and wellbeing. Drawing on his previous experience as a police officer, he understands first-hand the challenges that emergency service professionals face when responding to traumatic incidents.
