Each year, we finish our biophysics course (#Biophys1S03) with a video project, and the students go above and beyond every time 📽️🍿. We award the #BiOscars 🏆 (well, a box of Timbits) to the best ones; check out some snippets of this year’s winners! 👏🎉

Did the first RNA on Earth form in small droplets produced by geysers? Alix stumbled across something interesting when she investigated the role of different prebiotic minerals in the formation of life. New paper in @Life_MDPI mdpi.com/2041412 . @MDPIOpenAccess .

. @KrivicHannah ‘s new paper is out in @ACS_Infectious! These smart red blood cells can deliver #drugs to different targets. In this case we deliver a very potent antibiotic safely to specifically kill #ecoli. doi.org/10.1021/acsinfecdis.…

We will use this device to optimize #inhalabledrug delivery and also to understand the role of geysers for the #originsoflife and if RNA could have formed in small droplets when they are sprayed by springs and geysers in volcanic environments on the #earlyEarth. @McMasterScience

Lastly- cool video of a piece of styrofoam levitated by an array of tiny speakers. Not new technology but now being applied to study of cells for therapies. @McMasterScience

It was so interesting and so much fun chatting with @Avis_Favaro! Great win for @McMasterU having her in residence! AND we got a free social media lesson how to improve our posts by a real grand master 😉. @McMasterScience
6 things I learned this week as journalist in residence at @McMasterScience - Canadians are helping test new materials to construct buildings on other planets. These blocks are made from #mushrooms. The chamber simulates temperature changes on planets @NASA #astrobiology

This is a red blood cell repurposed to deliver #antibiotics to kill #ecoli #bacteria-the band of lines beneath it. Tests are underway to see if it’s another way to get medications into us. @MACBiophysics @MacGlobalNexus #pharmaceuticals

Just wanted to share a photo of my 1st year biophysics class' office hours from yesterday. Super happy to see all the people chatting and talking about science; this is exactly what active learning should look like! 😁🥰🔬📚. @McMasterU @McMasterScience
