We have a new preprint on @ESSOpenArchive mapping peat depth and carbon storage of the Hudson Bay Lowlands. Peat depth increases with increasing distance from the coastline due to ongoing glacial isostatic adjustment since ice retreat began. essopenarchive.org/doi/full/…

Swings in weather are doing a number on infrastructure, "the impact is more immediate in northern communities that rely on frozen roads. In Canada's southern cities and towns, concerns centre more around roads and building foundations" - Dr. Altaf Arain (MCCC director).
Some Western Canadians are swapping their parkas for T-shirts and raincoats after swinging from record high temperatures to record lows and back again this winter. cbc.ca/news/canada/western-c… .
