Trump is refusing to comply with a court order to fund SNAP, despite having the funds to ensure folks are fed through Nov. I convened food providers in the #MA7 who could go under as a result. Republicans are letting families go hungry & devastating local economies. Their shutdown must end NOW.

As SNAP benefits will not be supported through the month of November as the federal government shutdown continues, please remember that HIP will still provide SNAP recipients with funding to buy fresh local produce. You must keep a balance of at least 1 cent to use it.

The federal gov’t chose not to issue SNAP benefits this month — but MA’s Healthy Incentives Program (HIP) is still active. Keep at least $0.01 on your EBT to get $40 in local fruits & veggies from HIP vendors. 🍎 Find one near you: dtafinder.dtadash.ehs.mass.g… #MAPoli #MALeg

That’s a wrap on our 15th annual Farm Tour! Central & Western Mass is home to the best produce & meat in the U.S. But I’ll be blunt: our farmers are facing serious challenges. Many told me they’re struggling to make a living amid a crushing affordability crisis, Trump’s tariffs, cuts to nutrition assistance programs, and labor shortages spurred by mass deportations. Under Trump, the message to small family farms is clear: get big, or get out. Not on my watch—I’m going back to Washington fired up to fight for our farmers. I also want to thank all the local folks & community organizations that joined our tour—including State Sens. @jo_comerford, Paul Mark, @ryanfattman; State Reps. Lindsay Sabadosa, @josephdmckenna, @katedonaghue; and @MassDeptAgr, @NRCS_MA, @RD_SNE, @mafoodsys, CISA & @metrowestfoodc1.

The Urban Farming Institute in Mattapan is doing incredible work promoting access to healthy foods & standing in the gap to support vulnerable residents. It was a joy to join them in community last week for live music, to shop local produce, & to learn more about their efforts.

TY @MassGovernor for joining 22 Guvs & speaking out. Proposed SNAP cuts and cost-shifting to states are UNCONSCIONABLE. @DTA_Listens @projectbread @FoodBankWMA @MAFoodSys @Gr8BosFoodBank @MVFoodBank @USCCB @SenWarren @SenMarkey @CivilLegalAid
More than a million people in Massachusetts rely on SNAP — most of them are children, seniors and folks with disabilities. That’s why I joined 22 Governors to send a message to Republicans in Congress: Stop the cuts. Reject this attack on our health and families.

Thank you to the Healey-Driscoll Administration, especially the team at @MassEEA, for all their work on the MassReady Act (aka the environmental bond bill)! Excited to see more than $200 million of investment for a sustainable, equitable, resilient local food system. #mapoli
Today, I filed the Mass Ready Act to protect communities from severe weather — and the costs that come with it. Because for every $1 we invest in strong infrastructure and restoration, we save $13 when the extreme weather hits.

SNAP isn’t driving the deficit — billionaire tax cuts are. In a powerful new piece, Gina Plata-Nino, JD, SNAP Deputy Director, outlines the real costs of Senate Republicans’ proposed SNAP cuts. Read why this fight matters: frac.org/blog/senate-follows…

SNAP helps millions of kids eat. Now Congress wants to gut it — slashing $300 billion to fund tax breaks for the wealthiest households and corporations. It’s cruel, calculated, and happening this week. Contact your Senator now: secure.everyaction.com/lmBv7… frac.org/

Medicaid is healthcare. SNAP is food assistance. Both are lifelines and we're not done fighting for them. The Senate must reject Republicans' Big Ugly Bill and protect our families.

SNAP is a lifeline for 1.1M MA residents. Proposed federal cuts would be devastating for these children, seniors, and people with disabilities, and would harm our state’s economic vitality. Learn more about how these cuts would hurt MA here⬇️ mass.gov/news/governor-heale…

Thank you @RepPressley! Cuts to SNAP are deeply harmful, and will impact our economy and local farmers, and deepen food insecurity.
Republicans’ reconciliation bill would gut SNAP & increase food insecurity in the #MA7 & nationwide. I asked my GOP colleagues if any of them are willing to vote NO and make sure that children, people with disabilities, & veterans don’t go hungry. Their silence was deafening.
