A 5-year-old autistic child reported missing on March 25, 2026, was safely located by a community member with assistance from the Real-Time Intelligence Center (RTIC).
At approximately 7:40 p.m., 4th District officers responded to the 13000 block of Evanston Street in Rockville for a report of a missing 5‑year‑old autistic child who had run away from his father.
Officers immediately initiated a coordinated search effort that included multiple patrol units, the Search Manager, K-9 units, among other resources.
During the response, an officer assigned to RTIC identified a nearby registered camera owner and made contact. The officer notified the resident about the ongoing search and requested awareness of any relevant activity in the area.
Shortly after the phone call, the community member spotted the child outside near the residence and immediately called 9-1-1. The resident guided responding officers directly to the child’s location. The child was uninjured and was safely reunited with his father.
This successful outcome highlights the strong partnership between patrol officers, RTIC personnel, specialized resources and engaged community members. The Montgomery County Department of Police extends its appreciation to the resident whose quick actions and cooperation played a critical role in locating the child.
Every week, Montgomery County Police officers alongside caring community members locate 3 to 8 individuals on the autism spectrum in possible dangerous locations. If you believe your loved one is missing, report it immediately.
