Last week, Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears announced that Jeremiah Eldridge was sentenced to 40 years in prison for the Attempted Murder of his ex-girlfriend and their 10-month-old child. Eldridge shot the victim during an argument while she was breastfeeding their child.

This week, our Sex Crimes Unit obtained two significant child molesting convictions in separate trials. Isaac Gonzales Cortez was found guilty of Child Molesting after a three-day jury trial

Cameron Whorton was found guilty-as-charged of four counts of Child Molesting and two counts of Child Molesting after a one-day Court trial. These convictions follow the Unit’s 100% jury trial conviction rate for child molest cases in 2025.

On Friday, Prosecutor Ryan Mears announced that Ingris Marleni-Hernandez was sentenced to 30 years in prison for her role in the death of her nine-month-old daughter, Ana. In November, Marleni-Hernandez pleaded guilty to Neglect of a Dependent and Aggravated Battery.
