As we close out the week, the Martin County Sheriff's Office gathered today for our annual Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Surrounded by fellow deputies, law enforcement partners, family members, and community supporters, we reflected on the courage, dedication, and selfless service of those who gave their lives protecting others. In 2025, 11 law enforcement officers in the State of Florida lost their lives in the line of duty. Today, we remember them, honor their sacrifice, and keep their families in our thoughts and prayers.

It was great to have @chrishansen and his team here in Martin County this week. They worked seamlessly with our Criminal Investigations Division, Special Victims Unit, to arrest the worst of the worst. Mr. Hansen is a pioneer, one of the originals to shine the light on child exploitation. Great job by all!

The event brought members of the community together in reflection, unity, and prayer for our nation, first responders, military members, leaders, and families. A real piece of Martin County history: retired Lt. Jay King shared a 1900 firearm carried by Salerno’s US Marshal/Police Chief during two shootouts with the Ashley Gang. One in 1924 claimed Deputy Fred Baker’s life; the second ended the gang’s reign in Sebastian. Thanks, Lt!

DEPUTY PRESENCE AT JENSEN BEACH HIGH SCHOOL You may notice a large law enforcement presence in and around Jensen Beach High School following an anonymous call to our Dispatch Center reporting a bomb threat and an active shooter. Out of an abundance of caution, the school has been placed on lockdown. At this time, all students are safe. There is no active shooter, and that report has been determined to be false. There is also no indication the threat is credible; however, the Sheriff’s Office is continuing to handle the situation out of an abundance of caution. The School District will provide guidance shortly on student dismissal and pick-up procedures. Please wait for official instructions before coming to campus. There is no additional information at this time.

Each year, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office Posse continues its tradition of donating meat to local charities-supporting families in need and our agricultural community. Sheriff John Budensiek was glad to assist in transporting the donations to local organizations.
