Middle East Children's Alliance is a nonprofit org working for the rights & well-being of children in the Middle East, specifically Palestine & Lebanon.
When we reached out to you in March asking for urgent support for families displaced by Israeli attacks in southern #Lebanon, your response was a powerful act of #solidarity. All of us at MECA want to thank our community for supporting people on the ground with emergency aid.
The aid provided directly through your support included: 450 food parcels, 250 hygiene kits, 1,150 blankets and 1,150 mattresses, Hot meals for 70 families for 20 days, Milk for 250 children, Diapers for babies, the disabled, and the elderly.
On the 78th anniversary of #NakbatDay MECA's director, Zeiad Abbas Shamrouch, shares this powerful testament of the Palestinian plight and calls for solidarity in action.
"Palestinian refugees hate refugee camps, including me. No power in this world can erase the horrific memories that live inside of every refugee. While we hate the camps, we love the collective spirit of the people inside the camps. We grew up with this spirit."
"It shaped who we are & we breathe it every day. This spirit leads us as we further our struggle to return back to our homes & villages. It sustains our people in Gaza & throughout Palestine"

Disrupt apartheid - Join the CAF Global Week of Action, June 6-13.
Basque train manufacturer CAF provides the technical backbone for Israel’s colonial Jerusalem Light Rail.
CAF directly enables Israel's illegal occupation and annexation of East Jerusalem and the consolidation of Israel’s colonial settlements that ethnically cleanse Indigenous Palestinians from their homeland.

Israel's recently-passed death penalty law contains no clear exemptions for children, and the Government of Israel has not clarified whether children would be excluded from its scope.
Adding a discriminatory and irreversible death penalty to a system already known for abuse would be a brazen assault on the rights of Palestinian children.
Save the Children strongly opposes the death penalty bill and calls for its immediate withdrawal.
The UK Government has said it opposes the new law, but has failed to take tangible action to pressure the Israeli Government to withdraw it.
We refuse to accept a world where Palestinian children - or any children around the world - could be sentenced to death.

“It’s the only place where displaced people here in the tents can go to sit and read.”
This Palestinian pharmacist and his friend rescued thousands of books to create the first new library in Gaza since Israel’s genocide: the Phoenix Library.
Today, MECA turns 38, and this time we chose to honor the memory of co-founder Barbara Lubin - the calm yet fireless woman who turned anger into action & whose legacy inspires us all. Watch this video honoring her & her legacy; youtube.com/watch?v=L7-TDjA1…

Today the Israeli army killed another Palestinian child in Nablus area. The 15 years old Yousef Ishtayeh was shot and killed by the Israeli army during their invasion of Nablus.
Hey all, it’s publishing day for my book “How to Sell a Genocide,” which is a data-driven account of mainstream media’s role in creating the conditions of mass death in Gaza. 100% of royalties go to @MECAForPeace. Thank you!

On this #EarthDay, we’re reminded that caring for the planet is inseparable from caring for people. In occupied #Gaza, this care persists under the ongoing Israeli #genocide against Palestinians, the more than 17 years long Israeli #blockade & #apartheid.
And even though we will never do them justice; we took a moment to honor these amazing Palestinian workers by organizing a small activity to recognize their efforts and offer simple gifts as tokens of appreciation for their dedication and resilience.
On this earth day we remind the world that war lords and the weapons industry are among the most toxic and lethal tools not just for humans but for earth as well; and we urge you to continue working towards ending the Israeli genocide, apartheid, and blockade!
